Introduction:

Ensuring the purity of our drinking water is of paramount importance for maintaining good health. With concerns about contaminants and impurities in tap water, many individuals are turning to water distillers as a reliable solution. In this article, we will delve into the world of water distillers and explore the best options available for home use. Whether you are seeking to improve the taste, remove toxins, or simply enjoy peace of mind, finding the best water distiller for your home is essential.

Understanding Water Distillation:

Water distillation is a purification process that involves heating water to create steam and then condensing it back into liquid form. This method effectively removes impurities, such as heavy metals, minerals, bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants. The result is pure, distilled water that can be safely consumed.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Water Distiller:

  1. Capacity: Consider the volume of water you require daily. Water distillers come in various sizes, ranging from small countertop models to larger, freestanding units. Choose a capacity that meets your household’s needs.
  2. Construction and Durability: Look for a water distiller constructed with high-quality materials like stainless steel, which ensures longevity and resistance to corrosion.
  3. Ease of Use: Opt for a user-friendly model with clear instructions and intuitive controls. Features like automatic shut-off and easy-to-clean components make the distillation process hassle-free.
  4. Speed: Some distillers take longer to produce a batch of distilled water than others. Evaluate the speed of the distillation process and determine if it aligns with your requirements.
  5. Maintenance and Cleaning: Consider how easy it is to clean and maintain the water distiller. Removable parts, dishwasher-safe components, and straightforward maintenance procedures are desirable features.
  6. Additional Features: Certain water distillers may offer extra functionalities like carbon filters to enhance taste, UV sterilization for added safety, or programmable settings for convenience. Assess these features based on your specific preferences.

The Best Water Distillers for Home:

  1. ABC Water Distiller: The ABC Water Distiller is a reliable and efficient countertop model that offers a capacity of up to 1 gallon per cycle. Its stainless steel construction ensures durability, while a built-in activated carbon filter enhances the taste of the distilled water. With a straightforward operation and automatic shut-off, it is an excellent choice for any home.
  2. Megahome Countertop Water Distiller: This compact distiller combines efficiency and affordability. It can produce 1 gallon of pure water in approximately 5-6 hours. The Megahome Countertop Water Distiller features a glass collection container and a carbon filter, ensuring both purity and great taste.
  3. Pure Water Mini-Classic CT Counter Top Distiller: Ideal for smaller households, this distiller offers a 0.8-gallon capacity. Its durable stainless steel construction and user-friendly design make it a popular choice. The Mini-Classic CT also includes a carbon filter for improved taste.
  4. Durastill 8 Gallon per Day Manual Fill Water Distiller: If you require a higher capacity, the Durastill 8 Gallon per Day Distiller is an excellent option. While it is a larger freestanding unit, it offers efficient distillation and a manual fill option. With its durable build and reliable performance, it is well-suited for larger families or small businesses.

Conclusion:

Investing in the best water distiller for home is a proactive step towards ensuring the purity and safety of your drinking water. By considering factors such as capacity, construction, ease of use, and maintenance, you can find the perfect distiller to meet your needs. Whether you opt for a compact countertop model or a larger freestanding unit, the key is to prioritize reliability, efficiency, and long-term durability. With the right water distiller, you can enjoy the benefits of pure, distilled water conveniently at home, promoting your overall health and well-being.

As we age, it becomes increasingly important to eat a nutrient-rich diet that can support our health and wellbeing. One group of nutrients that has been gaining attention in recent years is flavonoids. These plant-based compounds have been linked to a range of health benefits, including a reduced risk of chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. In this article, I’ll share the top 10 flavonoid-rich foods that can help you stay healthy as you age.

Introduction to Flavonoids and Their Health Benefits

Flavonoids are a group of naturally occurring compounds that are found in many fruits, vegetables, and plant-based foods. They are most commonly known for their antioxidant properties, which help to protect our cells from damage caused by free radicals. In addition to their antioxidant activity, flavonoids have been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-diabetic properties.

One of the most exciting things about flavonoids is their potential to slow down the aging process. Studies have found that flavonoids can protect our cells from damage caused by oxidative stress, which is a key contributor to aging. By including flavonoid-rich foods in our diet, we can give our bodies the tools they need to stay healthy and vibrant as we age.

What are the Top 10 Flavonoid-Rich Foods?

There are many foods that are rich in flavonoids, but some stand out as particularly good sources. Here are the top 10 flavonoid-rich foods that you should consider adding to your diet:

Apples – A Rich Source of Flavonoids

Apples are not only delicious, but they are also packed with nutrients, including flavonoids. The most abundant flavonoid in apples is quercetin, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Eating apples on a regular basis has been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, including heart disease and diabetes.

Berries – A Delicious Way to Get Flavonoids

Berries are another great source of flavonoids. Blueberries, in particular, are rich in anthocyanins, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Other berries, such as strawberries and raspberries, are also good sources of flavonoids.

Dark Chocolate – A Healthy Indulgence

Dark chocolate is not only delicious, but it is also a good source of flavonoids. The flavonoids in dark chocolate are known as flavanols, which have been shown to have a range of health benefits, including improved heart health and cognitive function. When choosing dark chocolate, look for varieties that are at least 70% cocoa.

Green Tea – A Refreshing Source of Flavonoids

Green tea is a popular beverage that is known for its health benefits. One of the key components of green tea is a flavonoid called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has been shown to have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Drinking green tea regularly has been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Red Wine – A Moderate Source of Flavonoids

Red wine is often cited as a source of flavonoids, particularly a flavonoid called resveratrol. While it is true that red wine contains some flavonoids, it is important to consume it in moderation. Drinking too much alcohol can have negative health effects, and the benefits of flavonoids can be obtained from other sources.

Citrus Fruits – A Zesty Way to Get Flavonoids

Citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapefruits, are not only delicious, but they are also a good source of flavonoids. The flavonoids in citrus fruits are known as flavanones, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Eating citrus fruits on a regular basis has been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Soy Products – A Plant-Based Source of Flavonoids

Soy products, such as tofu and soy milk, are a good source of flavonoids, particularly a flavonoid called genistein. Genistein has been shown to have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties, and consuming soy products on a regular basis has been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Broccoli – A Cruciferous Vegetable That is Rich in Flavonoids

Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable that is packed with nutrients, including flavonoids. The most abundant flavonoid in broccoli is kaempferol, which has been shown to have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Eating broccoli on a regular basis has been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Incorporating Flavonoid-Rich Foods into Your Diet

Now that you know the top 10 flavonoid-rich foods, it’s time to start incorporating them into your diet. One way to do this is to make sure that you are eating a variety of fruits and vegetables each day. Try to include berries, citrus fruits, and broccoli in your meals, and snack on apples and dark chocolate for a healthy treat.

Another way to get more flavonoids in your diet is to drink green tea and enjoy a glass of red wine in moderation. If you are looking for a plant-based source of flavonoids, consider adding soy products to your meals.

Conclusion – Flavonoids and Aging

In conclusion, flavonoids are a group of nutrients that can have a range of health benefits, particularly as we age. By incorporating flavonoid-rich foods into our diet, we can give our bodies the tools they need to stay healthy and vibrant. So, the next time you are at the grocery store, be sure to stock up on apples, berries, dark chocolate, green tea, and other flavonoid-rich foods. Your body will thank you for it!

Antler velvet, a substance found in the antlers of deer, has long been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a treatment for various health issues. However, recently it has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) due to its apparent ability to improve athletic performance.

In this blog, we will explore antler velvet, its benefits, availability, and why WADA has decided to ban it. So, let’s get started!

What is Deer Antler Velvet?

Deer antler velvet is a type of tissue that covers the growing bones of deer and other members of the cervid family. It is thought to have medicinal properties and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries.

The active ingredients in deer antler velvet are believed to be glucosamine, chondroitin, and collagen. These substances are thought to promote joint health and reduce inflammation.

Deer antler velvet is available in supplements, powders, and tinctures. It can also be found in some cosmetics and skincare products.

Why is Deer Antler Velvet Banned?

Deer antler velvet is indeed a beneficial supplement with a long history of use in traditional medicine. So, why is deer antler velvet banned? To answer this, first, you have to understand where the use of this substance is prohibited.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is an international organization that works to prevent the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports. WADA has banned the use of deer antler velvet in competitive sports.

The reason for this is that deer antler velvet contains a substance called IGF-1, which is a growth hormone that can improve athletic performance. WADA bans IGF-1 because it gives athletes an unfair advantage.

While deer antler velvet is banned in competitive sports, it is still legal to use for personal use. So, if you’re not an athlete, you can still use deer antler velvet for different health benefits.

Benefits of Deer Antler Velvet

Here are some of the highlighting potential benefits of deer antler velvet:

Improve Joint Health

As we age, our joints start degenerating, and we can experience pain and stiffness. It is because the cartilage that cushions our joints starts to break down. Deer antler velvet can help to improve joint health by providing the body with glucosamine, chondroitin, and collagen. These substances can help to rebuild cartilage and reduce inflammation.

Boost Immunity

Deer antler velvet is also thought to boost immunity. It does this by stimulating the production of white blood cells responsible for fighting infection.

Reduce Inflammation

In addition to its joint-health benefits, deer antler velvet can also help to reduce inflammation. It is because it contains a substance called IGF-1, which has anti-inflammatory effects. That’s why deer antler velvet is sometimes used to treat arthritis and joint pain.

Improve Brain Function

Recent studies have shown that it can positively impact brain function. Deer antler velvet contains a compound called chondroitin sulfate, which is known to promote the growth of nerve tissue. It also contains other compounds that are believed to improve blood flow to the brain and protect brain cells from damage.

Additionally, deer antler velvet is a rich source of minerals and amino acids essential for healthy brain function.

Better Cardiovascular Health

Deer antler velvet can also improve cardiovascular health. It is because it contains compounds that help to reduce cholesterol and improve blood circulation. Additionally, deer antler velvet can help to lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels.

How to Use Deer Antler Velvet?

If you are not an athlete and want to use deer antler velvet for personal use, you have lots of options available, like:

Deer Antler Velvet Supplements

Deer antler velvet supplements are made from the cartilaginous tissue that grows on deer, elk, and moose antlers. This tissue is rich in nutrients like collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin and minerals like calcium and phosphorus. Deer antler velvet supplements are thought to provide a range of health benefits.

The active compounds in deer antler velvet are believed to work together to provide several benefits. For example, collagen provides structural support for joints, while glucosamine and chondroitin help to maintain healthy cartilage. Additionally, the minerals in deer antler velvet are essential for supporting bone health.

Deer antler velvet supplements are generally safe and well-tolerated. However, they should be used with caution in people with bleeding disorders or those taking medications that may increase the risk of bleeding.

Deer Antler Velvet Extracts

Other than the supplements, you can also find deer antler velvet extracts in the market. Deer antler velvet extracts are made from the cartilaginous tissue of deer antlers and are thought to provide similar benefits as deer antler velvet supplements. However, the extracts are more concentrated forms of deer antler velvet and may provide more potent effects.

The FDA does not regulate deer antler velvet extracts, and their safety has not been well studied. Therefore, they should be used with caution.

Deer Antler Velvet Powder

Deer antler velvet powder is made from the dried and ground-up cartilaginous tissue of deer antlers. It is a less concentrated form of deer antler velvet and is thought to provide similar benefits as supplements and extracts. Deer antler velvet powder can be added to smoothies, juices, or water. It can also be used in recipes for soups, stews, or sauces.

Deer Antler Velvet Spray

Deer antler velvet spray is believed to be more easily absorbed by the body than deer antler velvet supplements, extracts, or powder. You can use this spray topically on the skin or add it to drinks. Deer antler velvet spray is generally safe and well-tolerated. However, as with any supplement, you should always speak to your healthcare provider before using it.

Conclusion

So, why is deer antler velvet banned? We know that deer antler velvet has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. And it is still used for various purposes, such as improving joint health, cardiovascular health, and brain function. However, it is banned by The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) because it contains a compound that can increase levels of IGF-1.

So, if you want to use deer antler velvet as a professional athlete, we are sorry to say that it’s not for you!

Daily Wellness Check is very important to keep your child, our students, and our staff safe. To prevent viruses from spreading rapidly, complete this Wellness Checklist each day before sending your child to school. We’re all in this together! Graduate and professional students on the Beckley, Keyser, and Health Sciences campuses should begin daily participation immediately. Students and employees at Morgantown are encouraged to participate in the survey by Wednesday, Aug. 26. Survey data will help the University monitor infection rates and community spread, even among remote workers and online students.

Students, faculty, and staff health information will help guide appropriate, data-driven decisions, including when it’s safe to bring back more people. Preventing health issues requires a baseline check on your health and some guidance from a medical professional on how to improve it.

The importance of wellness checks lies in this fact. You can gauge your overall health and wellness by visiting your doctor when you’re feeling well, thus preventing medical issues. Take a look at what West Tennessee Medical Group provider Gregory Cox, MD, has to say.

The Importance of Wellness Checks

These types of medical visits go by a variety of names. The term “annual physical” or “checkup” may be familiar to you. Regardless of what it is called, this appointment serves the same purpose. A physician can keep a close eye on your overall health if you see him or her on an annual basis.

During this checkup, your medical provider can perform a thorough physical examination, discuss any symptoms or health issues you may have, review your medical records, and recommend any age-appropriate screenings.

Even if you see other doctors, such as a cardiologist or an orthopedist, this is important. Primary care providers, like internal medicine physicians or OB/GYNs, are able to discuss your health in total. To ensure your health, your PCP can coordinate your care with other medical providers.

Could there be anything better? Most insurance plans cover wellness checks as a “preventive health service”. Your medical provider may also provide free screenings and other preventive services. Among the health, screenings are mammograms, colonoscopies, cholesterol panels, and routine vaccinations, such as the flu vaccine and COVID-19.

In addition to your personal health, your family medical history, and your lifestyle habits, your doctor can help you decide what specific tests and vaccinations you need.

Why Now Is the Time to Schedule a Wellness Check

It’s no secret that 2020 was a strange year. It’s been a weird start to 2021, too, with COVID-19 still lingering. In the last year, many of us have spent more time at home. Children learn from home in some cases, and many people continue to work from home. Our interactions outside the household are limited to avoid getting COVID-19.

Daily Wellness Check and other important appointments related to health were often skipped by many people. Delaying checkups and cancer screenings could lead to cancer and other conditions being diagnosed later when they are less treatable.

Now is the time to flip the switch. We’re not the only ones who are overdue for wellness checks or screenings like mammograms. Over 40 percent of people skipped medical care during the pandemic, according to the American Medical Association.

Bee Busy Wellness Center is a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center dedicated to providing culturally appropriate healthcare that promotes better health and quality of life.

Mission of Busy Bee Wellness Center:

Bee Busy Wellness Center’s mission is to increase access to quality, comprehensive primary and preventative medical, dental, and mental health care in order to address disparities among underprivileged communities, individuals, and families regardless of their ability to pay. Ultimately, Bee Busy Wellness Center envisions Houston as a place where every citizen will have access to optimum health, and where that isn’t possible, every individual, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic circumstance and physical or mental capabilities, will have unfettered access to high quality, life-extending care, free from stigma and discrimination.

Providers of services:

  • Care/Case Management
  • Geriatrics
  • HIV Screening/Education
  • Mobile Clinical Services
  • Oral Health Services
  • Pediatrics
  • Perinatal Care
  • Pharmacy/Dispensary Services
  • Services in Supportive Housing
  • Street Outreach
  • Substance Abuse Services
  • Support/Education Services

Pediatrics:

Medical care for infants, children, and adolescents is known as pediatrics (also spelled pediatrics or p*diatrics). Children should receive pediatric care until they are 21 years old, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Worldwide, pediatric age limits have been increasing year over year. In the United Kingdom, pediatrics covers patients up to the age of 18. The medical doctor who specializes in this field is called a pediatrician, or pediatrician. Medics specialize in treating children; pediatrics and its cognates derive from two Greek words: (pais “child” and (iatros “docter, healer”). A pediatrician works in a hospital or children’s hospital, particularly in its subspecialties (e.g. neonatology), or as an outpatient primary care provider.

The autonomy of pediatric healthcare:

In most jurisdictions and with a few exceptions, children are unable to make medical decisions for themselves. This is a significant difference between pediatrics and adult medicine. Every pediatric procedure must take into account guardianship, privacy, legal responsibility, and informed consent. Rather than just treating the child, pediatricians often have to treat the parent and sometimes, the whole family. In certain circumstances, adolescents are entitled to make their own health care decisions, as they are in their own legal class. In addition to the wishes of the patient, a pediatrician must take into account the wishes of multiple people when considering treatment options, especially for conditions with poor prognoses or complicated and painful procedures/surgeries.

HIV Screening/Education:

Everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 years should be tested for HIV at least once, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This recommendation is based on two factors: HIV is a highly effective disease.

In addition to preventing new infections, AIDS education has three main purposes. It can be seen as consisting of two processes: Informing people about HIV – such as what HIV is, how it is transmitted, and how to protect themselves from infection

Geriatrics:

Health care for the elderly is a specialty of geriatrics. There is no set age at which patients may be under the care of a geriatrician, or geriatric physician, a physician who specializes in caring for elderly patients. Geriatric medicine aims to promote health by preventing and treating diseases and disabilities among older adults. A specialist’s availability and the needs of the patient will determine this decision. Geriatrics deals with the care of the elderly, whereas gerontology studies the aging process itself. Geriatrics is derived from the Greek terms geron meaning “old man” and ιατρός iatros meaning “healer”. The term medical gerontology can also be used when referring to geriatrics.

Services in Supportive Housing:

Supportive housing is a combination of housing and support services that are designed to help                               individuals and families recover from periods of homelessness, hospitalization, incarceration, or aging out of foster care. Housing that offers tenants support and is integrated with a neighborhood and    community is supportive housing. It is affordable, permanent, and independent.

It is divided into two main categories:

  • Single-site (also referred to as congregate): There may be common recreational areas or other facilities in a building where each family or individual has a private living quarter and a kitchen.
  • Scattered-site: A building with units intended for specific populations, accompanied by supportive services, spread throughout a neighborhood or community.

Starting A Health And Wellness Business In 2022

Also, take into account the cost of building a website, acquiring a web host, and securing a domain. Also, you should factor in any costs associated with running your business. Have you got to pay any additional taxes? How much income do you need to maintain your standard of living?

Naming Your Business

Make sure that your health and wellness business name is available in your state’s Secretary of State directory and then design a logo and website to promote your business. You can also come up with business name ideas by using a business name generator.

Wellness Retreats

The trend of running health retreats has exploded this year. Media Hub For Wellness

It would be possible to create a media site dedicated to providing specific types of health information. Creating authoritative content for your media site might involve hiring guest writers. Your revenue potential starts after you build a large audience for your site, just like the other online business ideas above. If you want to expand your online brand, you can then sell advertising or affiliate products, run online courses, workshops, or seminars, or create books and other products.

The results were then digitized and measured using Fiji software. Cell size was determined by measuring each cortex cell length along the apical-basal axis of the root from the QC to the fully mature zone (at least 20 cells after the cortical cell that is closest to the epidermal cell with the first hair root).

Corporate wellness programs

Employee assistance programs became widely used in workplaces by the late 2000s, and the Affordable Care Act included funding for the development of such programs for small businesses. People with disabilities have criticized corporate wellness programs as discriminatory. Furthermore, although there is some evidence that wellness programs can save companies money, these studies are usually observational and prone to selection bias. Randomized trials are less likely to produce positive results and have methodological flaws. One of the many reasons the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was enacted was the discrimination of disabled people in corporate wellness programs. The new proposed Americans with Disabilities Act rule defines an employee-wellness program as a program designed to promote health and prevent disease by addressing disability-related inquiries or medical examinations.

Promotion of pseudoscience

In addition to its wide definition, the term “natural root wellness” is often used by people promoting unproven medical treatments, such as the Food Babe or Goop. Wellness community members have been criticized by Jennifer Gunter for overdiagnosis promotion. According to Goop, the company is skeptical of the status quo and offers “open-minded alternatives.” Michael D. Gordin writes that pseudoscience is a bad category to analyze because it’s used only as a negative term by scientists and non-scientists alike.
