Graduating from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and becoming a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. The goal of wellness is to enhance well-being beyond absence of illness. New Thought, Christian Science, and Lebensreform are all examples of 19th-century movements that sought to optimize health and consider the whole person – concepts with roots in alternative medicine. Plant Growth Conditions

We disinfected Arabidopsis seeds with 20% sodium hypochlorite and 0.01% Tween 20 for 15 minutes, stratified at 4 °C for 5 days, and sowed them on square Petri dishes containing MS medium (0.2* Murashige and Skoog salts (MP Biomedicals; Irvine, CA, USA), 0.05% MES (Sigma-Aldrich; St. Louis, MO, USA), 1% sucrose (Sigma), and For osmotic treatments, five days after sowing (5 dps) seedlings were transferred to MS medium (Control) or MS supplemented with concentrations of mannitol or sorbitol as indicated in each case and grown for 24 h. Assays for recovery were performed with 5-dps seedlings in MS medium containing 400 mM of mannitol (changed every week).

Kinematic Analysis

The cell size and root domains and zones were determined using Fiji software for all quantitative cellular analysis. Analyses were performed as described previously. Each accession’s root length and growth rate were determined by marking the position of the natural root wellness tip every 24 hours on the back of the plate. The results were then digitized and measured using Fiji software. Cell size was determined by measuring each cortex cell length along the apical-basal axis of the root from the QC to the fully mature zone (at least 20 cells after the cortical cell that is closest to the epidermal cell with the first hair root).

Corporate wellness programs

Employee assistance programs became widely used in workplaces by the late 2000s, and the Affordable Care Act included funding for the development of such programs for small businesses. People with disabilities have criticized corporate wellness programs as discriminatory. Furthermore, although there is some evidence that wellness programs can save companies money, these studies are usually observational and prone to selection bias. Randomized trials are less likely to produce positive results and have methodological flaws. One of the many reasons the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was enacted was the discrimination of disabled people in corporate wellness programs. The new proposed Americans with Disabilities Act rule defines an employee-wellness program as a program designed to promote health and prevent disease by addressing disability-related inquiries or medical examinations.

Promotion of pseudoscience

In addition to its wide definition, the term “natural root wellness” is often used by people promoting unproven medical treatments, such as the Food Babe or Goop. Wellness community members have been criticized by Jennifer Gunter for overdiagnosis promotion. According to Goop, the company is skeptical of the status quo and offers “open-minded alternatives.” Michael D. Gordin writes that pseudoscience is a bad category to analyze because it’s used only as a negative term by scientists and non-scientists alike.
